Why it is built the way it is

Most business software is sold on a promise and handed over as a demo. It photographs beautifully, copes with the first customer, and then meets the second one — who needs a permission the product does not have, a field somebody hard-coded, or an export nobody ever wrote. We spent years being the people called in afterwards.

So the awkward decisions here were made on purpose. There are 1,746 separate things you can permit rather than three roles, because "she can look at invoices but not refund them" is a real sentence somebody says out loud. Changed settings are recorded with what the value used to be, because the question afterwards is never "what is it now". And enterprise features are not held back for an enterprise price — the small shop gets the same audit trail as the big one.

The same instinct produced the mark at the top of this page. It is one rectangular bar bent into a C and twisted around its own curved axis, rebuilt every frame — so the silhouette genuinely narrows where the bar turns edge-on. No video, no sprite sheet, no painted gradient. It behaves correctly at 38 pixels and at 620, which is the same property we want from everything else here.
